Love them or hate them, spiders carry powerful wisdom. They appear in mythologies throughout the world: whether trickster or deity, totem or guide, spiders offer lessons in connection and integration, service and vision. As one of the essences within the Wild Earth Animal Essences family, Spider’s insight into these areas can be deeply transformative.
Wild Earth Animal Essences are co-created in nature during a ceremonial process. They contain no animal parts and no creatures are hurt during their creation — they are vibrational essences, holding the wisdom of each animal to help us initiate inner change or support us during personal healing and self-development. They are both gentle and powerful, and they are one of the essence families I offer in Vibrational Essence Consultations. Spider, in particular, is one of the essences which often appears in a consultation, especially when there is a lack of integration within a client’s life.
The master weaver, the connector, creator, and integrator, Spider volunteers its experience to encourage us to connect with our deep inner wisdom and knowing, and integrate that into our being. If we are struggling with internal conflicts, perhaps torn between decisions, Spider can help. For those of us who wear many hats and strive for balance (and often don’t achieve this), Spider can help. If our emotions are scattered and vary wildly, with little sense of harmony, Spider can help.
Spider spins its web, connecting itself to the world around it and bringing its silken or sticky threads forth from within itself. These threads are produced from spinneret glands — each gland capable of creating a different kind of thread, each for a different purpose — and they integrate Spider fully into its environment. Spider therefore becomes part of the very fabric of the world, weaving itself into the community around it. In the same way, Spider’s wisdom empowers us in forging connections both within ourselves and within the world around us. It nurtures these connections, offering us integration and balance on all levels.
If we are troubled, wrestling with different parts of ourselves, Spider can be our guide as we go within to seek better understanding and work towards a more harmonious equilibrium. If our inner life is very different to our outer life, or we find ourselves wearing masks to cope with our varied roles, Spider gives freely of its knowledge of integration, assisting us in bringing together that which has been separated. And if we find ourselves with too many things to consider, or if we are faced with a project with seemingly too many strands, Spider offers perspective, a way of seeing how everything connects together and becomes unified.
As we work to embody fully our true selves, Spider helps us to see our interconnectedness with the rest of the world. It fosters a sense of belonging and wholeness, encouraging balance and service for both ourselves and those around us. In empowering us to access our deep inner wisdom and encouraging us to bring our visions and dreams to life, Spider brings its ability to manifest and connect to the fore, enabling us to see both our inner and outer worlds as one world, and each person and creature a point on the great web of life, forever connected and never alone.
