Please note: This blog post focuses on the vibrational essence of Foxglove, and not any herbal mixture that may be prepared from this plant. Foxglove — Digitalis spp. — is poisonous and can be deadly, though reported instances are rare. The vibrational essence, by comparison, is completely safe to use.
In the summer, country hedgerows in my area are filled with foxgloves. They make me smile — not just because they are so stunning, but also because of their properties in vibrational medicine. In the Alaskan Essences family of flower essences, Foxglove brings gentle and transformative properties which encourage us to release stagnant patterns and cleanse our energy bodies of that which restricts our outlook.
Often, we can reach a place in a situation or relationship where we are blinkered — we have lost all sight of the bigger picture and our footing is unsure. We don’t quite know which way to go next, or how to get there. We have temporarily lost the eagle-eye overview of our lives, and everything has become uncertain. Maybe this situation has arisen due to a conflict of interests, ideas, or personalities; or perhaps we have been confronted by an opposing viewpoint. Discomforts such as these naturally cause us to take a step back, our fear response kicking in — and when this happens, our hearts can close down. Rather than leaning into the discomfort and meeting ourselves, the situation, or the person involved with compassion, we pull away and put up our walls. And there are times when this is absolutely the right response — self-preservation is important. But there are other times when doing this, when losing sight of the overall picture, is actually more hurtful in the long-term.
At these times, Foxglove essence can help us remain open-hearted and open-minded, by easing the energy around the heart and encouraging us to open to love without fear of risk. As the restrictions around the heart lessen, our breathing returns to a normal rhythm and our fear-response is calmed. The natural flow of energy around our body runs more smoothly once more. Everything becomes more expansive, from our energetic bodies to our chest cavity to our overall outlook. We regain our perspective about the situation or relationship. Our insight is more spacious, our intuition more sure. We re-find our footing and, in releasing any mental attachment to the outcome, we become more flexible.
Foxglove also empowers us in seeing the heart of the matter, and be open to the lessons we are learning at this time. It encourages us in taking risks which, due to fear, we may not have taken previously — and as it does so, it fosters us with deep compassion and sharp insight as to the paths that are open to us. We are eagles once more, seeing with brilliant vision and perception. As the tension eases, our confidence grows and we are able to set foot on our paths once more, with compassionate acceptance, understanding, and a willingness to experience life through the eyes of love, not fear.
